Hey, I'm Samrat.

Samrat Garai

I lead mobile at Marrow (DailyRounds), and I like the surfaces nobody volunteers for. Secure video playback, the checkout path, the reliability graph that has to stay flat, the parts where a bug quietly costs real money or breaks trust. I own those until they are boring, and boring is the compliment.

I joined as an IC in 2019 and grew into the manager, across the Android and iOS teams. Eight-plus years in Android, seven on one flagship: past a million downloads, half a million monthly actives, crash-free for 99.9% of them. Along the way I cut ANR from 0.35% to 0.19%, lifted launch success from 68% to 95% without loosening a security check, and shipped over a hundred releases at a 99% success rate. The receipts are on the Impact page.

But I get restless in one lane. Flutter apps, firmware-adjacent BLE, WebRTC, real-time pricing, internal tools other engineers lean on. Different stacks, same instinct: find the messy real-world problem, make it feel simple. The side projects live on the Work page.

Beyond work

Anime and manga Avid across both. Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, One Piece. I read the manga too, and I got my wife hooked on anime.
Fitness Went from 97 kg to 70 kg. The discipline that fixes a body fixes a codebase.
Cooking I cook when I need to think. Some of my best ideas show up over a pan.
Paint and sketch Quiet hours, no screen in sight.
